Description

High-quality Harvia olivine diabase sauna stones designed for authentic Finnish sauna performance. These angular stones in the 10–15 cm size range provide outstanding heat storage and produce rich, long-lasting sauna steam when water is poured over the stones.

Olivine diabase is the traditional choice for Finnish saunas due to its exceptional durability, high density and excellent thermal conductivity. Mined in Western Finland, these natural stones withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles while maintaining their structure and performance over many years.

The split-face surface stores large amounts of heat and allows water to vaporise efficiently across the broad fracture surfaces, creating soft, consistent and long-lasting steam. Their angular shape also makes the stones easy to stack while ensuring good air circulation throughout the heater.

These 10–15 cm sauna stones are ideal for all wood-burning sauna stoves and are also recommended for large electric sauna heaters that require larger stones. For the best performance and heater longevity, always use the stone size specified in your heater manufacturer’s instructions.

Technical Information

  • Natural Harvia olivine diabase sauna stones
  • Angular stones for authentic Finnish sauna steam
  • Stone size: 10–15 cm
  • Weight: 20 kg
  • Ideal for wood-burning sauna stoves
  • High durability and excellent heat retention

Usage

Before first use, rinse the stones with clean water to remove any dust. Stack the stones loosely in the heater to allow sufficient airflow between them. Proper placement improves heating efficiency and helps produce consistent and even sauna steam.

Choosing the Right Stone Size

Stones with a size of 10–15 cm are typically used in wood-burning sauna stoves, where the larger stones provide increased heat storage and produce a slower, softer sauna steam. For electric sauna heaters, smaller stones (5–10 cm) are usually recommended because they allow better airflow between the heating elements.

Delivery & Warranty

This product is available for collection only from Polaris Sauna in Greystones, Co. Wicklow. Due to the weight of sauna stones, we currently do not offer shipping for this item. Collection can be arranged by appointment after purchase.

Product Information

Sauna stones are a natural product and may vary slightly in shape and colour. Small surface cracks can occur during heating and cooling cycles and are normal during sauna use. Before first use, rinse the stones with clean water to remove any dust. Stack the stones loosely in the heater to allow sufficient airflow between the stones.

Maintenance

To maintain optimal sauna performance, sauna stones should be checked regularly and replaced if they become heavily cracked or start to crumble after extended use.
