Octagonal Wood-Fired Hot Tub Installation in County Monaghan

For this residential garden project near Monaghan, County Monaghan, Polaris Sauna supplied and installed a 2 m × 2 m octagonal wooden hot tub with a powerful 35 kW stainless steel wood-fired heater, an integrated bubble system and eight LED lights.

The customer selected a beige interior shell, deluxe Thermowood steps, a fitted cover and a drain valve. The exterior timber was also stained on site according to the customer’s preferences.

One of the main challenges was the garden access. The hot tub had to be carried down a steep staircase and across a sloping section of the property before reaching its final position on a prepared concrete platform.

With the assistance of four people, the hot tub was successfully moved into place. The installation was then completed with the connection and commissioning of the wood-fired heater and testing of the electrical features.

Project Overview

The installation included:

  • 2 m × 2 m octagonal wooden hot tub with beige interior shell

  • External 35 kW stainless steel wood-fired heater

  • Integrated air bubble massage system

  • Eight LED lights

  • Deluxe Thermowood steps

  • Hot tub cover and drain valve

  • Exterior wood staining according to customer preference

  • Delivery, positioning and installation

  • Connection and commissioning of the heating system

Overcoming Difficult Garden Access

Access is an important consideration when planning an outdoor hot tub installation, especially when the garden is located on a slope or can only be reached by stairs.

At this property in County Monaghan, the hot tub was delivered directly to the customer as scheduled and was ready for installation.

However, reaching the designated installation area was not straightforward. The access route included a steep staircase followed by a sloping section of the garden, making conventional wheeled transport impractical.

Four people carefully carried the hot tub through the challenging route and positioned it on the concrete platform prepared by the customer.

Despite the difficult access, the hot tub could be installed without the need for a crane or other specialist lifting equipment.

This project demonstrates that challenging garden access does not necessarily prevent the installation of a substantial outdoor hot tub. With careful planning and sufficient assistance, even difficult locations can often be accommodated.

An Octagonal Wooden Hot Tub with a Customised Finish

The customer selected our 2 m × 2 m octagonal wooden hot tub, combining traditional timber cladding with a smooth, beige interior shell.

The octagonal design creates a distinctive appearance, while the moulded interior offers a practical and easy-to-clean bathing surface.

Once the hot tub had been positioned on its concrete foundation, the exterior timber was stained on site in the customer’s chosen finish.

The natural wooden exterior, together with the matching deluxe Thermowood steps, gives the installation a warm and traditional appearance.

A fitted cover was also supplied to help retain heat and protect the water from leaves and other debris when the hot tub is not in use.

35 kW Wood-Fired Heating

The hot tub is heated by an external 35 kW stainless steel wood-fired stove.

Water circulates between the hot tub and the external heater, where it is warmed by the fire before returning to the bathing area.

The powerful wood-fired heating system provides an authentic outdoor bathing experience without requiring an electric heater as the primary heat source.

Following the positioning of the hot tub, the installation team connected the stove, checked the water connections and brought the heating system into operation.

Heating times depend on factors such as the initial water temperature, outdoor conditions, firewood quality and whether the hot tub is covered during heating.

Bubble System and LED Lighting

For additional comfort, the customer chose an integrated air bubble system and eight LED lights.

The bubble system releases air into the water, producing a gentle massaging effect that complements the warm bathing experience.

The eight integrated LED lights illuminate the interior and create an inviting atmosphere, particularly during evening use.

Both systems were supplied with plug-in electrical connections. During the installation, the bubble system and LED lighting were connected to a suitable electrical supply and successfully tested.

These features add modern convenience while maintaining the traditional appearance of the wooden hot tub.

Final Result

The completed installation near Monaghan combines traditional wood-fired heating with modern comfort features and a customised exterior finish.

Despite the challenging access involving a steep staircase and sloping ground, the hot tub was successfully carried into position by four people and installed on the prepared concrete platform.

The exterior was stained according to the customer’s wishes, the 35 kW stainless steel stove was connected and commissioned, and the bubble system and LED lighting were tested.

The result is an attractive outdoor wellness space that makes excellent use of the available garden area.
