Plan a similar sauna for your garden
This project shows how a fully assembled sauna can be delivered and placed in one step, without any on-site construction.
Not every garden has the space for a large outdoor sauna, but that does not mean a private sauna experience is impossible.
For this project in West Dublin, Polaris Sauna installed a compact MiniCube Garden Sauna into a very challenging location. The available space was extremely limited, with only approximately 10 cm of clearance on each side of the sauna once installed.
While the MiniCube is one of our smallest sauna models, this installation required careful planning, precise preparation and a different approach compared with a standard garden sauna installation.
The result was a beautifully integrated sauna solution that made use of an otherwise difficult garden area and provided the customer with a traditional Finnish sauna experience at home.

The MiniCube is designed specifically for customers who want a high-quality sauna experience while working with limited garden space.
The Challenge: Installing a Sauna Into a Narrow Garden Gap
The main challenge was the final location.
The customer had identified the perfect position for the sauna, but the available space around it was extremely restricted. Once installed, there would only be around 10 cm clearance on either side.
For a normal sauna installation, this would create a major problem. A sauna requires enough working space around the structure for:
- fixing timber components
- adjusting the structure
- installing internal elements
- checking levels
- completing finishing work
Building the sauna directly in this position would therefore not have been practical.
Why a Fully Assembled Crane Installation Was Not Required
In many restricted access situations, a fully assembled sauna may need to be lifted into position using a crane.
This method is often used where access is limited, but it requires suitable lifting access and additional equipment.
Because the MiniCube Sauna is compact and relatively lightweight compared with larger sauna models, Polaris Sauna was able to use a different solution.
The sauna could be prepared completely before entering the restricted area.
Preparing the MiniCube Before Moving Into Position
The sauna was assembled in an open area where our installation team had sufficient working space.
Before moving the sauna, we carefully checked the structure and levelled the base.
One important detail was preparing the roof for the final position. Because the sauna would sit close to surrounding boundaries, we lowered the roof as much as possible before installation.
This helps protect the timber structure and roof area in a confined location, especially considering the changing weather conditions experienced in Ireland.
Moving the Sauna Into the Final Location
Once preparation was complete, the assembled MiniCube Sauna was carefully moved into position.
Using a four-person installation team, the sauna was safely carried into the narrow garden gap.
After reaching the final location, the sauna was carefully adjusted and re-levelled to ensure the structure was perfectly positioned.
This final levelling process is extremely important because a sauna structure needs to remain stable and accurately aligned over many years of use.
Electrical Installation and Same-Day Commissioning
The customer had already arranged for an electrician to prepare the electrical supply cable before installation.
The MiniCube was equipped with a Harvia Vega 4.5 kW electric sauna heater, which is an ideal solution for this compact sauna model.
After the sauna installation was completed, the customer’s electrician connected the heater on the same day.
This meant the sauna was fully operational immediately after installation and the customer was able to enjoy their first sauna session without delay.
A Compact Sauna Solution for Dublin Gardens
Many Dublin properties have beautiful gardens but limited available space.
This project demonstrates that a smaller garden does not necessarily mean compromising on quality or sauna experience.
With careful planning, professional installation and the right sauna design, even challenging locations can become a perfect place for a home sauna.
The MiniCube Sauna now provides the customer with a private Finnish sauna experience while making excellent use of a previously difficult garden area in West Dublin.

This installation was a great example of how creative planning can overcome challenging site conditions.
From preparing the sauna before positioning, protecting the roof structure and carefully moving the sauna into a space with only minimal clearance, every stage required precision and experience.
