Plan a similar sauna for your garden
This project shows how a fully assembled sauna can be delivered and placed in one step, without any on-site construction.
Every sauna project is different, but some installations require particularly careful planning.
For this project, a fully assembled Comfort Cube Sauna 1.7m was delivered to a residential property in South Dublin. Although the sauna itself was relatively compact, access to the garden presented a significant logistical challenge.
Thanks to detailed preparation, specialist equipment and an experienced installation team, the sauna was successfully transported into position and prepared for use.
Project Overview
The customer selected a Comfort Cube Sauna 1.7m featuring:
- Thermowood construction
- Wooden front wall with two front windows
- Wooden entrance door
- Cozy 12 wood-burning stove
- Fully assembled delivery
The goal was to place the sauna directly in the rear garden while minimising disruption to the surrounding property.
No Side Access and No Crane Option
One of the main challenges of this project was the restricted access to the garden.
There was no suitable side entrance that would allow the sauna to be moved directly into position. Lifting the sauna over the house was also not possible due to overhead cables and other obstacles surrounding the property.
As a result, a different solution had to be found.
Transporting the Sauna Through a Narrow Access Route
The only available route to the garden was a narrow access lane measuring approximately 2.3 metres in width.
This width was too restrictive for standard forklifts or wheel loaders. In addition, the available height clearance further limited the choice of equipment.
To overcome these restrictions, a specialist telehandler was used to transport the sauna safely through the narrow access route and into the rear garden.
Fully Assembled Delivery
The sauna arrived fully wrapped and fully assembled from the factory.
After unloading from the truck, the complete sauna was transported through the access route without requiring disassembly. This approach reduced installation time on site and ensured the sauna remained factory assembled throughout the process.
Final Positioning
Once inside the garden, the sauna still needed to be accurately positioned on its final location.
To achieve this, the telehandler was used in a similar manner to a crane, allowing the sauna to be carefully lifted and manoeuvred into place.
The precise positioning ensured the sauna was correctly aligned and ready for the final installation work.
Final Assembly on Site
Following positioning, our installation team completed the final works required before the sauna could be commissioned.
These included:
- Installation of the Cozy 12 wood-burning stove
- Installation of the chimney system
- Installation of the backrests
- Final inspection and preparation for first use
Once completed, the sauna was ready for its first heating cycle.
Final Result
This project demonstrates that even gardens with highly restricted access can often accommodate a fully assembled sauna with the right planning and equipment.
From navigating a narrow 2.3 metre access route to completing the final installation on site, this was another great example of how complex logistics can be successfully managed in an urban environment.
The completed Comfort Cube Sauna 1.7m now provides the customer with a traditional wood-fired sauna experience in the heart of South Dublin.
