Comfort Barrel Sauna 1.6m Installed in Malahide, Co. Dublin

Every sauna project is unique, but some installations stand out because of their excellent preparation and smooth execution.

For this project, a Comfort Barrel Sauna 1.6m was installed at a residential property in Malahide, Co. Dublin. Thanks to straightforward access and a well-prepared foundation, the installation was completed efficiently and without any significant challenges.

Project Overview

The customer selected a Comfort Barrel Sauna 1.6m featuring:

• Thermowood construction
• Thermowood benches
• Harvia Top Steel M60 electric heater (6 kW)
• Insulated barrel sauna design
• DIY kit installation carried out by Polaris Sauna

The goal was to create a compact and high-quality outdoor sauna that would integrate naturally into the property while providing an authentic Finnish sauna experience.

Sauna Kit Delivered in Advance

To ensure an efficient installation process, the sauna kit was delivered to the property prior to the installation date.

This allowed our installation team to begin work immediately upon arrival without waiting for delivery logistics. All components were already on site and ready for assembly, helping to reduce installation time and streamline the overall process.

Straightforward Access

Access to the installation area was uncomplicated and did not require any specialist lifting equipment.

All components could be transported directly from the delivery location to the installation site. No crane, telehandler or other specialist machinery was required, allowing the installation to proceed quickly and efficiently.

Prepared Foundation

The customer had already prepared a solid and level foundation before installation.

As the surface was stable and fully finished, only minor adjustments to the sauna support feet were required to achieve perfect alignment.

A properly prepared foundation is one of the most important factors in ensuring the long-term stability and durability of an outdoor sauna.

Agreed Location and Orientation

Prior to the installation, the exact location of the sauna was discussed and agreed with the customer.

The sauna was installed alongside the house, positioned between the driveway and the main garden area. This location provides convenient access from both the house and the garden while making efficient use of the available space.

The final position and viewing direction of the sauna were confirmed on site before assembly began, ensuring the sauna was perfectly aligned with the customer’s preferences and the layout of the property.

Efficient Installation Process

The installation was carried out by a team of two to three installers and was completed in less than two days.

Thanks to the advance delivery of the sauna kit, the prepared foundation and the easy access, the entire project progressed smoothly from start to finish.

No unexpected issues were encountered during the build, allowing the team to complete the installation according to schedule.

Following assembly of the structure, the Thermowood benches were installed and all components were checked and aligned.

Heater Installation

The sauna was equipped with a Harvia Top Steel M60 electric heater with an output of 6 kW.

This heater is ideally suited to compact saunas of this size and provides efficient heating performance while maintaining a traditional sauna atmosphere.

Following installation, the heater was mounted and prepared for electrical connection by the customer’s electrician.

Final Result

This project demonstrates how straightforward a sauna installation can be when access, foundations and logistics are properly planned in advance.

Within less than two days, a high-quality Thermowood barrel sauna was successfully installed and integrated into the space between the driveway and the garden.

The completed Comfort Barrel Sauna 1.6m now provides the customer with a beautiful outdoor wellness space and an authentic sauna experience at home.
